Only 1.004 DISP after this is done can the calibrator section of the 1.004 DISP instrument be adjusted. 1.005 DISP The following procedure should be performed at a 1.005 DISP constant ambient temperature of 23 +/-1degC. Keep 1.005 DISP relative humidity below 80%. Avoid air drafts and keep 1.005 DISP heat sources away. 1.006 DISP Before opening the case of the CL23, remove all input & 1.006 DISP output connections. This includes input sensors, 1.006 DISP calibration cables, and the optional battery charger. 1.006 DISP Next slide the battery cover off, and remove the 1.006 DISP battery. 1.007 DISP Turn the instrument face down, and remove the three 1.007 DISP Phillips head screws from the rear cover. Lift off the 1.007 DISP rear cover to reveal two mated circuit board assemblies. 1.007 DISP Remove the piggyback board, being careful not to damage 1.007 DISP or bend the interconnect pins. Mate the interconnect- 1.007 DISP extenders to CONN1 and CONN2 on the piggyback board. 1.007 DISP These extenders allow access to adjustment 1.007 DISP potentiometers when the boards are mated. 1.008 DISP Re-attach the piggyback board to the motherboard. 1.008 DISP 1.008 DISP Reinstall the battery, turn on the CL23 and allow 30 1.008 DISP 30 seconds for reading to stabilize. The instrument 1.008 DISP should be in meter mode, 1.008 DISP resolution. 1.009 HEAD THERMOMETER MODE 1.010 DISP Set the instrument to meter mode, with type K TC, and 1.010 DISP 0.1degF resolution. 1.010 DISP 1.010 DISP Connect the 5520A TC terminals to the UUT T2 terminals 1.010 DISP using a type K, SMP plug to SMP plug cable. 1.011 DISP There are two potentiometers located on the mother 1.011 DISP board, which are used to calibrate the CL23 meter. The 1.011 DISP zero adjustment (P1) is located between the T1 and T2 TC 1.011 DISP connectors. The gain adjustment (P2) is located between 1.011 DISP T2 and the side of the case. There is some interaction 1.011 DISP between the two adjustments which requires repeating 1.011 DISP both adjustments until desired results are achieved. 1.012 5520 32.0degF _K TC S 2W 1.013 DISP Adjust P1 for a UUT reading of 32.0 +/-0.2degF. 1.014 5520 1800.0degF _K TC S 2W 1.015 DISP Adjust P1 for a UUT reading of 1800.0 +/-0.2degF. 1.016 OPBR Would you like to repeat the adjustments? 1.017 JMPT 1.012 1.018 5520 * S 1.019 DISP Remove all connections. 1.020 HEAD CALIBRATOR MODE 1.021 DISP Set the instrument to calibrator mode, with type K TC, 1.021 DISP and 0.1degF resolution. 1.022 DISP There are two potentiometers located on the piggyback 1.022 DISP board, which are used to calibrate the CL23 calibrator. 1.022 DISP The zero adjustment (P21) is the one closer to the TC 1.022 DISP connectors. The gain adjustment (P22) is the other 1.022 DISP potentiometer. There is some interaction between the 1.022 DISP two adjustments which requires repeating both 1.022 DISP adjustments until desired results are achieved. 1.023 OPBR The number of adjustment repetitions can be reduced by 1.023 OPBR initially keying in 2500degF, and pre-setting P21 to 1.023 OPBR give -1.19V across pins 3 and 2 of RN22, then P22 for 1.023 OPBR 1.89V across pins 1 and 2 of RN22. 1.023 OPBR 1.023 OPBR Would you like to perform this initial adjustment? 1.024 JMPF 1.033 1.025 MESS Set UUT for a calibrator mode output of 2500.0degF. 1.026 DISP Connect the Fluke 45 to the UUT as follows: 1.026 DISP [32] 45 V Input to pin 3 of RN22. 1.026 DISP [32] 45 COM Input to pin 2 of RN22. 1.027 MESS Adjust P21 for a measurement of -1.19V. 1.028 45 -1.19V S 2W 1.029 DISP Move the Fluke 45 V Input connection to pin 1 of RN22. 1.030 MESS Adjust P22 for a measurement of 1.89V. 1.031 45 1.89V S 2W 1.032 DISP Remove all connections. 1.033 DISP Connect the 5520A TC terminals to the UUT T1 terminals 1.033 DISP using a type K, SMP plug to SMP plug cable. 1.034 DISP Set UUT for a calibrator mode output of 32.0degF. 1.035 MESS Adjust P21 for a zmeasurement of 32.0 +/-0.2degF. 1.036 5520 32.0degF _K TM S 2W 1.037 DISP Set UUT for a calibrator mode output of 2300.0degF. 1.038 MESS Adjust P22 for a measurement of 2300.0 +/-0.2degF. 1.039 5520 2300.0degF _K TM S 2W 1.040 OPBR Would you like to repeat the adjustments? 1.041 JMPT 1.035 1.042 5520 * S 1.043 DISP Turn off the UUT and remove all connections. Remove the 1.043 DISP battery. Unplug the piggyback board, and remove the 1.043 DISP interconnect extenders. 1.043 DISP 1.043 DISP Re-assemble the instrument. 1.044 END
